師徒之間
約2000到2002年，在佛研所就學時，我們是第一批住進新建宿舍的研究生，恩師與真華長老常常沿山徑來佛學院門外經行散步。我當時很年輕，常常問東問西請法。在本山經行的恩師很少帶侍者，但真華長老常常帶著男眾比丘侍者出遠門。當時，我們圍著長老請法都當自己人，大家都曉得長老是家師一生摯友。
有一個侍者我特別有印象。一般侍者無論是沙彌、比丘都沒表情只顧站著；他偏偏跟別人不一樣。我站在佛學院門外跟長老請法時，那高高的侍者一直無言傻笑，傻笑到我回望他時他還是一臉的笑意，雙眼坦然地回望著我。他是唯一一個反應不同的侍者；以我對老和尚高僧們的了解，他回頭一定會被真華長老狠狠地訓斥，而且他還會摸不著頭師父好生氣在生氣什麽。師父準不會挑明他狂挨狠罵的「真正理由」（那年代的老人家超級保守，很難直接開口），反而會拼命找各式各樣不相干的事情無厘頭開罵……
對我們而言，很早就摸熟一套「高僧教育守則」：要罵，痛罵，雷厲棒喝時，專挑有肩膀、有擔當、有前途、愈挫愈勇又耐磨耐操的比丘徒弟下手；至於一罵就哭泣、撒嬌、懷疑人生沒意義或心碎老和尚一定不疼愛她的比丘尼徒弟不行。直下事相境緣現前，該怒目瞋罵時只抓大的、排前面、早剃度的徒弟厲聲教訓，其他小的、排後面、晚剃度的徒弟站旁邊陪著緊張發抖就好了。那場面看多了，我們心裏有數：師父痛罵誰，誰就是塊料。
師父教徒弟，薑是老的辣。
細微再細微，如理實觀照。
因緣會當遇，人間塵影事。
深植八識種，花開果自成。
幻軀並幻法，妄識暨妄相。
三心夢三界，正歸一心法。
起心動念處，直下相見時。
拈花示法義，微笑心了然。
