Laugh at me
So hard that you almost couldn’t breathe
Leave your laughter at my streets
When reading a book about morality
You laughed at me
When writing a kid’s childish diary
You still laughed at me
When a girl grew to be a woman
You laughed at me
When I worked and wandered everywhere
You just laughed at me
No encouragement
No support
No warm companionship
You taught me the cruelty of a family
But I thank you now
I thank you for that long-term painful training
I got so used to your laughing
I’ve learned how to insist on what I believe
